Christopher James Taylor is a Cape Town based DJ, who has engraved his name in the South African dance music scene over the last few years. Chris was brought up in the city of Harare in Zimbabwe, where he started DJ'ing at house parties and birthdays at just 15 years of age, Chris soon outgrew the small party scene in Harare and decided to move on to pursue his passion for dance music in the Western Cape of South Africa.
He has since grown both locally and internationally headlining shows across Africa and Asia.
Over the years Chris sculpted his own style. Known for playing uplifting progressive house and electro but without any limitations Chris has also been known to jump between genres and play across the board. "I don't care about genre's, if I like how it sounds I will play it!"
In March 2012 Chris was announced as the winner of the Avicii SA Tour DJ competition, a huge milestone in his career, he has since performed alongside some of the top DJ's/Producers in the world including the World's No.1 DJ for 2013 & 2014 Hardwell, Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Tïesto, Zedd, W & W, Skrillex, Fedde Le Grande, Galantis, Robin Schulz, Carnage, Seth Troxler, Juicy M, Claptone, Martin Garrix, DVBBS, Axwell, Sebastien Ingrosso, Above & Beyond, Cosmic Gate, Oliver Heldens, Dannic, R3HAB, Alex Kenji, Yolanda Be Cool and more. Not only has Chris aligned himself with these huge international power houses, he has also played alongside some of South Africa's finest exports such as Black Coffee, Goldfish, Goodluck, Locnville, Haezer, DJ Fresh, Pascal & Pearce, Roger Goode, Dean Fuel, Niskerone and many more.
In February 2015 Chris was selected as one of very few local artists to play on the main stage at Ultra South Africa in Cape Town alongside some of the biggest names in dance music. Chris was included again in the line up for Ultra South Africa 2016 where he played alongside the likes of Tiesto, Skrillex, Zedd, Afrojack, DJ Carnage, Galantis and more.
Chris has held down residencies at some of Cape Town's top clubs and bars, including Knoxville, Affinity, The Side Show, St.Yves and one of the top beach clubs in the World Shimmy Beach Club. Chris has also featured at some of the biggest festivals in Africa, including: Ultra South Africa (Main Stage 2015/2016), Fun In The Sun, Nova Music Festival, Neon Run, Victoria Falls Carnival, One World New Years Festival 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, Neverland Festival, Electric Vines and many more.
Chris was the resident DJ for Neon Run South Africa and between 2014 and 2015 has played across the country to over 50000 people .
Recently Chris has started to tour outside of South Africa to play headlining gigs in Hong Kong, Beijing, Mozambique, Mauritius, Namibia, Botswana as well as his hometown Harare in Zimbabwe.
So what is next for this young, ambitious artist you may ask? With an album in the pipeline and several collaborations with local artists and international friends and an end goal of playing at Tomorrowland in the next few years, it is safe to say that there is a lot to come from Chris!
